President: John Long
Preside at all meetings of the Association, coordinate the work of the officers and committees in order that the objects may be promoted, and is a member ex officio of all committees except the nominating committee.
1st Vice President: Susan Pehrsson
Designated representative of the High School, and acts as an aide to the President. The 1st and 2nd vice presidents, in their designated order, perform the duties of the president in the absence or inability of that officer to act.
2nd Vice President: Patti Rothwell
Designated representative of the Middle School, and acts as an aide to the President.
3rd Vice President: Judy Dioquino
Oversees the All Night Grad Party and its various committees.
Secretary: Robert Shaw
Record the minutes of all meetings of the Association, keep the official copy of the local unit's bylaws, maintain a membership list as required by Virginia PTSA, and perform other duties as assigned.
Treasurer: Cynthia Dupuy
Has custody of all the funds of the Association, keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures, make disbursements as authorized by the president, executive board, or association in accordance with the budget, remit the state and
national dues, present a written financial statement at every meeting or when requested, prepare an annual financial report at close of year, has accounts examined according to audit procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.
Past President/Parliamentarian: Trenda Jacocks
Acts as non-voting member of the executive board. Oversees parlimentary procedures of the official meetings. Provides counsel and advice of past PTSA activities.
All-Night Grad Party: Judy Dioquino
Organize and run the annual PTSA-sponsored Drug and Alcohol Free All-Night Graduation Party for the senior class held annually on Graduation night.
Awards: Suzanne Klein
Coordinate and submit applications for special awards and honors throughout the year, including nominations for teacher of the year.
Baccalaureate: Vacant
Coordinate the annual non-denominational Baccalaureate program for graduating seniors.
Boundary/School Board Rep: Susan Pehrsson
Represent Lake Braddock’s interests on issues affecting school boundaries. Monitor the actions of the school board pertaining to the FCPS budget and school board issues, keep the LBSS PTSA informed.
Box Tops for Education: Patti Rothwell and Kathy Laing
Promote and publicize the Box tops for Education program which funds teacher mini-grants.
Communication: Carol Ann Stanger (Bruin Voices), Lea Anne Long (e-news)
Publish the PTSA Newsletter, Bruin Voices; post the newsletter to the LBSS homepage. Contact PTSA membership by email with breaking PTSA news and items of interest to the members. Maintain PTSA email list.
Community Relations/Outreach: Vacant
Coordinate with PTSAs of Lake Braddock SS feeder schools to ensure smooth transitions and to address and promote common concerns. Act as liaison with diverse segments of the LBSS community to build communications and relationships. Organize annual networking coffee with PTA presidents of the LBSS elementary feeder schools.
Craft Fair: Bonnie Conte,Nicky Polis
Organize and run the annual fall Craft Fair, our primary PTSA fundraiser.
Cultural Arts (Reflections Program): Sue Brantlinger and Maria Supko
Plan and run the national PTA Reflections program at Lake Braddock SS. Coordinate judging for the Virginia PTA Citizenship Essay Project; coordinate the Middle School Essay Contest.
Education: Nancy Clements and Patricia Fausser
Keep the PTSA informed on current education issues such as SOL, SOQ, special education, gifted and talented programs, etc. Coordinate annual PTSA teacher mini-grants.
Giant/Safeway and Other Promotions: Vacant
Promote and coordinate the Giant and Safeway food stores educational programs that provide funding for LBSS technology needs through sign-ups for parents and friends of Lake Braddock. Coordinate any other business programs that might fund PTSA through donations.
Health & Safety: Andrea Livick
Keep PTSA informed on welfare issues such as health, substance abuse, teen driving, and violence. Promote school and family safety.
Hospitality: Vacant
Provide expression of appreciation throughout the school year for Lake Braddock SS faculty, administrators, staff and bus drivers, including luncheons, baked goods, etc.
Lake Braddock Coalition: Vacant
The Coalition works with students, administration, parents, and community to prevent youth violence and drug use in Fairfax County. There are multiple funding streams that support the coalitions, including the Safe and Drug-Free Youth section of FCPS, the Board of Supervisors, 3 federal grants, and community donations.
The Coalition uses multiple prevention strategies across multiple sectors, having supported after-school programs, mentoring, peer mediation, youth leadership development, community enforcement, parent education seminars, community awareness projects, research-based model prevention programs, school-based prevention initiatives, and numerous other projects and programs.
Legislation: Mary Baran
Coordinate the polling of Lake Braddock PTSA members on PTA local, state and national legislative positions of concern. Act as liaison with the Fairfax County Council of PTAs and Virginia PTA on legislative issues.
Membership: Elizabeth Hurst
Enroll members, collect membership dues, and maintain an up-to-date list of current members. Encourage and promote PTSA membership. Publish and distribute the annual purple directory of LBSS information given gratis with membership.
MentorWorks: Robyn Trump
Coordinate the PTSA MentorWorks program for middle school and high school. Recruit and train mentors. Work with school counselors to coordinate program.
Middle School After School Program: Michelle Birkenstock
Organize and coordinate an after school program for middle school students. Recruit and train adult volunteers to lead and assist in the
after school activities. Work with the Middle School Administrators and the Lake Braddock coalition in a community effort to promote this program.
Minority Parents Representative/Cultural Ambassador Program:
Brenda Taylor, Stella Zoccoli-Perez, Lilian Ancalle, Rocio Duty, Aeyon Norby, Mayra Arze, Jorge Shepard, Evelyn Quisbert
Represent the views and needs of minority groups on PTSA issues. Coordinate the Cultural Ambassador Program which will provide Language Ambassador Parent Volunteers at Back to School Night and other PTSA sponsored events. Work closely with staff Parent Liaisons on issues of diversity and multiculturalism.
Programs/Parent Forum: Suzanne Gaudian and Tracy McCarthy
Research and organize appropriate and informative educational programs to present to the PTSA membership for General Membership meetings as well as any special parent forum during the year.
Volunteer Coordinator: Kathy Carson
Compile volunteer form responses and provide names of volunteers to school and PTSA committees. Recruit volunteers for specific jobs as requested by faculty and staff and provide lists of recruited volunteers to requesters. Compile statistics of volunteer hours provided during the school year from all groups involved in school activities (PTSA, Booster Clubs, etc.) and prepare the annual LBSS school volunteer program report. Organize awards ceremonies receptions and report event breakdowns (donations, purchases, etc.) Organize a “coffee” to thank volunteers at the end of the school year.
