 About Us:

What Does The Lake Braddock PTSA Do?

PTSA stands for Parent-Teacher-Student Association. The Lake Braddock Secondary School PTSA serves all students at Lake Braddock, both middle and high school. We encourage parental involvement in the school through extensive volunteer activities. Parents, teachers and students are kept informed through our monthly newletter, Bruin Voices.

We participate in developing the annual School Plan and sponsor staff appreciation events, including the "Teacher of the Year" award. The PTSA-supported Reflections contest and Virginia Essay contests provide cultural enrichment for special projects. The MentorWorks program pairs caring adults with our students to raise self esteem and pass on valuable life skills. The teacher Mini Grant program funds direct classroom enrichment and enhances education for our students, and the All-Night Grad Party provides a safe, alcohol-free environment for our celebrating seniors. The LBSS PTSA also awards several scholarships each year to graduating seniors. General PTSA programs are funded through membership dues and annual craft fair proceeds. The All-Night Grad Party is financed separately by special fund-raising events.

Lake Braddock Secondary School is a National School of Excellence (NSE), and was originally awarded this certification by the National PTA organization for January 2005-December 2007 as a parent involvement school of excellence. LBSS PTSA has renewed our NSE certification through 2010. Below you can read our NSE Parent Involvement Policy which outlines the philosophy of our PTSA, as well as the larger, more detailed, NSE Parent Involvement Plan that outlines the specific implementation strategy to achieve our goals.
